Hi, My name is Tara Fisher and I am The Odyssey Goddess. I’m a huge history buff and my love for history piqued my travel curiosity. As I learned about different cultures the pictures seemed so intriguing that I wanted to go there to see these places. The more I learned the more I wanted to sample the culture for myself. The Earth is a beautiful place and I felt I was missing out by being in Virginia the majority of my childhood and early twenties. So the first time I jumped on a plane in 2006 it was an international flight to Cancun to visit Isla De Mujeres (The Island of Women) and I have never looked back.
You can learn a lot
from reading books but there is a whole different experience being in the
culture talking with the locals, tasting the food, going on excursions and
having conversation with other travelers from around the world. The thing I
love about discovering a new place is that it challenges your world view by
allowing you to take a closer glimpse at how life is outside of what you normally
see. By being an educated tourist you
can find lots of things to do that are fun, exciting, cultural/socially driven
and good for the environment in which you are visiting. This also gives other cultures a better
perspective on the Americans they normally only hear about
and or see on TV. It’s amazing how
strong stereotyping is and it also shows there is more to people than what is
portrayed in the media.
I think women
should take education as a hands on adventure and make their vacations an opportunity
to learn instead of just a getaway.
These times are the perfect opportunity to be surrounded by lush
tropical landscapes, beautiful beaches and or mountains to take your mind off
of the hustle and bustle of busy American lifestyle while also becoming a more
avid world citizen. Some people will go
on vacation at a resort and never leave the resort area because they are scared
of what they hear from other people or on the news here at home. Don’t believe
everything you hear lots of places depend on their tourist dollars to stimulate
the economy so they create laws and have lots of security in tourist areas. In
most cases these laws are applicable to the tour guides and taxi services
providers. Relax while you are surrounded by a new cultural experience waiting
for you to explore.
I am creating this
blog to share my experience, encourage women and children to travel and live a more passionate life. I
will share travel tips, raise your spirits about being an educated traveler and
offer research and travel opportunities to those who may be interested. So ladies get your passport ready and let’s go
venture out to create your very own Goddess Odyssey.
